Waking up in a cold sweat, feeling like danger is around every corner, or turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms—these can all be signs of unresolved trauma. If this sounds familiar, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy might be the breakthrough you’ve been searching for.

EMDR helps your brain process painful events so they no longer control your present. By using bilateral stimulation and your brain’s ability to heal itself, EMDR allows you to observe your trauma without reliving it, ultimately reducing distress and building resilience.

This article explains the steps in EMDR and what a new client can expect in the process.

EMDR – A path to getting your life back

You see what you expect to see. This is not only true for your eyes, but your outlook on life. Gratitude Journals, Meditation (even “micro-dosing” meditation), and Cold Plunges are great ways to be mindful about the breadth of the human experience and help us pessimists remember that there are really awesome, beautiful things happening in life if we take the time to open our eyes and focus on them. It makes for a much fuller, rich experience of life.
